Violinist
Danielė Brekytė is a Lithuanian classical music artist
After her studies at Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater she went to study with Austrian violinist prof. Christian Altenburger in Vienna. She studied at the mdw – Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst – first place worldwide in the performing Arts category (2019 QS World university rankings).
She received further influences from Zakhar Bron, Maxim Vengerov, Hubert Kroisamer, Tanja Becker-Bender, Boris Garlitsky, Johannes Meissl, Pavel Vernikov, Susan Meesun Hong Coleman, and Florin Iliescu.
As a soloist she performed with the Lithuanian State Orchestra, Kaunas Philharmonic Orchestra, St.Christoph Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of C. Altenburger, Symphony Orchestra of Lithuanian Academy or Music and Theater.
In autumn 2025, Brekytė was awarded an individual scholarship by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport in recognition of her achievements and to promote her future projects. She is the music manager of the LT Art Vienna festival, which began in 2019. Brekytė regularly collaborates with contemporary composers, premiering new works.
She took part at various contemporary and classical music festivals like Wien Modern, Con Anima Festival, Brücken Festival, Creative Dialogue, International Oginskis Festival, Ostrava Days, NODO, Junge Talente, Ars Lituanica, Composers + and many more. As a chamber musician she played with artists like Ensemble Phace, Ensemble Kontrapunkte, Ostravska Banda, together in Ensembles with Annette Bik, Ernst Kovacic, Steven Dann.
Danielė worked with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra for three years (academy), appearing at the Salzburger Festspiele, BBC Proms, and Wien Modern festivals and performing in renowned concert halls such as the Musikverein, Elbphilharmonie, Shanghai Oriental Art Center, and Palau de la Música. In 2026, she joined the first violin section of the Wiener Symphoniker under a fixed-term contract.
